"Imagine" a visit to Anne Frank

October 9th, 1942  "Our many Jewish friends and acquaintances are being taken away in droves.  The Gestapo is treating them very roughly and transporting them in cattle cars to Westerbork, the big camp in Drenthe to which they're sending all the Jews."
An excerpt from "The Diary of Anne Frank"

Many have read the book "The Diary of Anne Frank."  If you haven't.....it is a must read especially if you are travelling to Europe.  Amsterdam is the last place Anne lived.
For me, standing in the place where Anne shared her incredibly mature views of life as a young girl are inspiring.  It is impossible not to wonder what she would have become, as such a gifted writer, or where she would be as an adult today.

The line up to get into the Anne Frank house.....keeps going......and

going.........and going............

and going.............
Unless you purchased tickets, online, before leaving Canada.  You bet we did.  There was no way I wanted to miss this opportunity to be in the house where Anne wrote her diary.

The Frank family went into hiding, during World War II, in this building on July 6th, 1942.  They spent more than two years in a small annex on the top floor of this building.  Until someone betrays them to the Nazi authorities August 4th, 1944.

As a victim of the Holocaust, Anne tears at my heart with her fears that become reality at the end of her short life.

Otto Frank "I hope Anne's book will have an effect on the rest of your life so that insofar as it is possible in your own circumstances, you will work for unity and peace."

You will be forever changed by a visit here.
