"I am not afraid....I was born to do this." Joan of Arc
At the age of 13, Joan experienced her first vision. Which told her to help drive out the English from France, during the Hundred Years' War and bring the Dauphin (Charles II) to Reims for his coronation.
This indeed came to be with Joan's help.
Joan of Arc is memorialized here in the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Tragically she was captured, by the English, tried and burnt at the stake by the French whom were pro-English. Wrapped in chains with flames at her feet, it is such a moving and sad statue.
This is the Place du Vieux Marche, the spot where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake for heresy in the year 1431. She was only 19 years old.
The 'Eglise Jeanne d'Arc' is a church built in 1979, next to the site of her death, to commemorate this famous saint of France.
