As much as I enjoy treadmill running, there is nothing like getting outside to experience the sights and sounds of a green space. I must get a 16 k run in today for my upcoming Half Marathon. Our home away from home in London isn't far from Kensington Park but closer to Hyde Park this time.
So off I go.....
The Round Pond attracts a lot of feeding of the birds in the early morning. There is a wee puppy with this Londoner who is getting into the fun with the birds.
Looks familiar......The Prince Albert Monument. When he died Queen Victoria mourned him until the end of her life. A very sad story.
A little school girl 'scootering' to school through the Board Walk in Kensington Park.
I loved this scene. The park bench is almost completely engulfed by this tree. Reminds me of a Harry Potter movie with trees that come to life.
This bronze sculpture is located in Hyde Park near the Diana Memorial. Simply called 'Isis.'
Designed by a British sculptor, it is the name of the Egyptian goddess of nature and has been in the park since 2009.
Running through Hyde Park I almost missing the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain. Killed in a car crash in 1997, this memorial was designed to 'express Diana's spirit and love of children.'
Officially opened July 6th, 2004 by the Queen, included in attendance was Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry.
So as you can imagine there is so much beauty to enjoy in these two parks that not only did I get lost for awhile....yikes....but it took me 2.5 hours to run my 16 k. But I did it and loved it!!
